The traditional ruler of Ugbegunland, Edo State, hometown of former President of Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Professor. Festus Iyayi, who died in an auto crash, Wednesday on Lokoja-Abuja road, HRM, Samuel Obade I, Onojie of Ugbegunland and his people, are demanding a compensation of N50 billion to be paid to the immediate family of the late professor by the Kogi State governor, Captain Idris Wada.
In a letter dated November 13, the community wrote to the Executive Secretary, National Human Rights Commission, Abuja, on the death of its son in an automobile accident with the governor’s security details, calling for a thorough investigation for Nigerians to know the actual cause of Iyayi’s death.
Prof Iyayi was on his way to Kano, in the company of other members of ASUU, for the union’s National Executive Council(NEC) meeting, where members were expected to discuss the recent offer by President Jonathan in a bid to call off the four-month old strike, but a car in the convoy of Kogi State governor Idris Wada ran into their vehicle. Iyayi lost his life in the accident, while two other members of ASUU, the National Welfare Officer, Dr Ngozi Ilo and Dr Anthoni Emina were injured.

I think your comment "everybody dey find way to chop national cake" was irresponsible, You should be querying why the Governor's go around in convoy and the follow... follow drives in such an erratic manner. a similar report was on naijapal this week an incident in Ogun State some people lost their lives. the Kogi state governor should be held responsible.

So sad that this man died in this manner,You need to see how reckless this convoy drivers are, those who are supposed to protect the law are the ones breaking it. No amount of compensation will bring him back or equal his life

@maimivice . I made comment because 50bn will not bring back mr iyayi to live again .we never had that his family are dieing of hunger or having any finance problem.and I and not in support of the gov's convoy. Eneh say so via nokia 3310

My Brother Eneh , the issue is not the money but the Lawless behaviour. Compensation is a form of deterrent and it will be a bad press for the Governor. thanx for your understanding.
