Ladies! Would you want to marry a man whose mother is dead or alive?
I want a mother in-law that is alive.
Reasons:I married into a family where my mother in law already had in mind the wife she wanted for my husband. I did not know at the time.
I noticed that my husband wanted to keep the marriage a secret from his mother and I never understood or knew why.
I called my mother in law to let her know that we got married because we live in two separate countries. She was very angry and she hung up on me. I still did not understand. I thought if she met me, she will know me and she will like me.
I pressured my husband for us to go and visit his mother. She was horrible to me. She actually brought the girl that she wanted my husband to marry to live in the house and introduced her as their cousin.
The girl and her mother was living with my mother in-law and father in law. I was the only person that did not know that the girl was not their cousin but my husband's girlfriend.
Needless to say, the mother in law and the girl was very bad to me. They even went to the extent of using witchcraft on me, and they put pepper in my under pants. I made it out of their alive barely. I was saved by strangers that saw me on the street with the baby and thought that I looked terrible and rushed me to a doctor nearby.
As soon as the doctor saw me dropped he dropped his bag even though he was rushing to go the emergency room at the hospital to treat somebody very sick. The doctor said I looked terrible. I had no idea that I was sick. I just knew that I was tired and that I was having problems crossing the street to return to my in laws home. I was treated right away with some drugs and was given prescriptions for some more. They were feeding me horrible things but I did not know. I was Bosom feeding a new born baby at that time.
When I came home with the prescriptions my mother in law was very angry and refused to help me to get the prescription filled. She was a nurse at the time. They had already beaten me up before and took all my money. I had no money and could not buy the prescriptions.
My father in law was very nice to me. Once he saw that I was very sick, he demanded that my husband pack up my things and take me back to Canada.
When I had my second child, I wanted my mother in law to see my second child. I still had no idea that there was much amiss. I was too young to know better.
The second visit was important because my eyes were more open. The supposedly cousin challenged my husband in front of me because my husband took me out. I did not understand and my father in-law looked at me and stated that I was confused because I do not understand what was going on.
They even brought voodoo man in the house.
The so-called cousin continued to date my husband without me knowing because I really believe that she was their cousin. I just did not understand why my husband was very violent towards me when I was around them.
Years later, the so-called cousin called me and told me that she does not want my husband and that I can have him to myself. I guess that was the day she confirmed to me what I suspected but never able to utter out to anybody.
Later on, my mother in law called me and confessed her witchcraft involvements and asked me to forgive her.
We are now friends, but she lost out a lot in the growth of her grand children. She saw them only when they were young. I am working very hard right now for the children to get to know her and to love her.
Lessons:The lessons I learned is that I treat all the friends my children have very well. I do not tell my children whom to date. I do not interfere. I treat other people's children very well.
I had no family in Canada when all this things was happening. My husband's family was what I took as my own family at that time.
I have been lucky enough now to have my own biological mom with me and my husband worships and loves the ground she walks on. My mom treats him like a king.
Regardless of the situation you are in, just keep the faith and love God and also love your mother in law. God is in control and everything that is hidden will one day be revealed. Do not be bad to your mother in law no matter what she does to you. God will see you through. Your mother in law may be blinded by dark forces beyond their own control.
