I think they are doing this because the language is dying unlike Hausa and Yoruba that are always growing among it native speakers and those who speak them as second language. An average Igbo man may not necessarily speak his mother tongue as fluent as he speaks English. Some even speak Yoruba or Hausa more fluently than their mother tongue.

I think it is good for them to do this in order to save their language from vanishing.

Until now "" walahi I never kn u get sence reach like this  Grin Grin

Africans are confused, but the most confused nation people in Africa is Nigerian,no1 languages diversities across the country, no2 religious or faith differences, these are the forum that create disunity, racism and tribalism, any way like this idea of compulsory of learning igbo language in the institutions in the eastern part of Nigeria,i see it as an idea of creating dilemma to segregation among student.

This may work out well only if the federal government comes Inn, making d 3 major languages in Nigeria compulsory, but on this ibo self pursuit it wouldn't work or work against them at the long run.  Hope am wrong but ask me why....

you can not make it compulsory, NUC should not allowed such thing. otherwise if all states follow the same steps to make their own language compulsory what will become of the country? Lasu will introduce yoruba, AAU will introduce Esan, notherners will introduce their own. smh
