Lawal Disagrees With Keshi Over Ikechukwu Uche

Former Super Eagles midfielder Garba Lawal, has openly disagreed with current coach Super Eagles, over the axing of Villareal striker Ikechukwu Uche.

Keshi confirmed earlier this week, that Uche is not part of his 2014 World Cup plans, because of what he called “lack of tactical indiscipline’.

Uche, who last featured for Nigeria at the 2013 Nations Cup, has scored 12 goals this season for the La Liga side and Lawal told Daily Trust that he is shocked about Keshi’s decision.

He said: “I don’t believe in that talk about indiscipline. Indiscipline in this case contains so many things. If he lacks discipline, how come he scores twelve goals in the La Liga?

“I have been following this boy week in week out. He is doing fantastic, indiscipline as what? You are the coach, you are like his teacher. If you want you can change him. I am not in support of that decision.”

Lawal reiterated that although Keshi is solely in charge of team selection, the NFF technical committee would always be available to give him advice.

“We as technical committee members can only advise him. Even the NFF is there to advise, he has been appointed and must be left to do his job,” he added.
