well, some of  you might be suprised that this question is somehow ambiguious, but i must tell you i have my reasons for such topic. i wondered in some of the universities where by student were not be grade according to their performances i mean a student who tried to burnt all the candles and put in his best, but at the end the person will hardly got D but some of other students who knows thier way will be having A s which they cannot defend their selves outside there. So my distinguished guest apart from examination what other ways or measure can we used to test student intelligence.

i thinks anything called 'test' is still like an exam, but if you mean outside the four walled learning building, there are so many..........but i think the most realistic is the everyday situations test (est) .... how he handles and manages activities (and people around) him/her and sort of result he produces.........something like that

Examination or to examine is to undergo testing for a specific ability or quality. Examination is specific and not general. I assume we all know that a test criteria has to be setup to determine the scoring mode of a test, so it is also specific.

I do not trully understand where you are going with your question, but how do you test for intuition, leadership, honesty, ability to bring up a family, creation and improvement of fertility, spirituality, and so many more. Most of these are things that concern and are required for building our motherland and personal sustenance.

Question?

Has the educational system in Nigeria created an improvement of the life and environment of the country since adopted?

or have we created a society reliant on competition and individualism(capitalism) with aspirations of being in possesion of more coloured/printed paper which carry on them a promise to be redeemed for gold.

Look at the money in your hand. It is what you went to school for, and what you are taking all these exams for. On it says "A promise to pay on demand". You kill, steal, torture yourself all for a promise from a group of foreign bankers. Is this what life is about? .......coolio

i think we need a revamp of the entire educational system. So we dont keep producing what we cant use, wont use, and dont need.

See some students just don't test well. That is why in the US where i go to school a students performance is not based solely on the test result because some students fold under the pressure. the best way to be able to test the students intelligence in constant assignment that will further culminate into the overall performance in the class. if a student can consistently do and pass assignments given periodically with good grades, that are not given in a testing evironment, this is a good way to test students intelligence not having the students cram info in order to download it on a test which they will still forget in the long run.

The whole point is to separate the good  apples from the bad ones and asking questions does not prove any thing. You have to test the student not let them pass through.

True but u are trying to prepare your students for real life situations in the chosen field of professions and asking view point questions does not enhance their learning experience.
