On a weekend when reports surfaced of alleged match-fixing prior to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and fresh allegations surfaced about improprieties around Qatar’s winning bid for the 2022 tournament comes the peculiar case of Nigerian goalkeeper Austin Ejide.

Ejide and his World Cup-bound squad played Scotland to a 2-2 draw last Wednesday in a friendly international match in London, a game that had been the subject of allegations of attempted match-fixing before it had even started.
