Tragedy hit Amagbu autonomous community, a sleepy rural village in Ezinihitte Mbaise local council area of Imo State after a woman was gruesomely murdered by her first son.
Vanguard reports that the woman identified as Mrs. Ann Anyanwu was stabbed three times by her son, Uzoma Anyanwu, though what led to the ugly incident has not been ascertained.
According to the son of the victim, Chukwudi the incident happened this morning when everybody had left the family home for their respective businesses.
Recounting what happened, he said his father heard a voice which sounded like that of his wife, calling for help and saying she was dying and so he rushed to where the voice was coming from.
When he got there, he saw his first son inflicting stab wounds on the mother. He immediately informed the Chairman of the community.
Chukwudi said his mother gave up he ghost before she could get any sort of help.
Also reacting to the incident, the traditional ruler of the community, Eze Mike Ndudiri, described it as “most unfortunate”.
He said he after he got report of the incident, he called the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, to the community and the murderer was handed over to the police for proper investigation.
The woman's corpse has been moved to a hospital mortuary.
A police officer attached Ezinihitte Mbaise Police Division, who spoke on strict grounds of anonymity, confirmed the story.
