The importance of basic education which comprises of ability to read and write cannot be underestimated. All around the world, literacy has been given prominence—and I cannot even think about my life without being able to read and write.
At the basic level, there is no argument against the fact that, some sort of education is the real key to success—even if we buy into the argument that success is relative.
However, University education (High education) is where the contention lies. Is Higher Education or University Education the key to success in Nigeria, Africa and the World as a whole?
Interestingly, despite the parents push and several individuals desire to obtain higher education across the Globe, certain excessively rich and famous people, ranging from Bill Gates to Mark Zuckerberg had no use for University Education—and eventually dropped off. Yet, they went on to become the World’s greatest in their chosen field.
Some may argue that luck was on the side of these people and that beyond basic education, the real key to success in life is LUCK and nothing more.
If the luck argument makes sense, we should be chasing lack—instead we see a lot of people who cannot even afford higher education struggling to put themselves through. This is a clear indication that, we have a recognised some sort of value for University Education but the question is; it this value real—-and is this the real key to success?
Let’s hear your take on the BIG DEBATE question; Is University Education the REAL Key to Success? Share with us your experience and if possible how your education (be it basic or higher) have been the rock of your success…

"...A UNIVERSITY DEGREE IS NOT NECESSARILY THE ULTIMATE KEY TO SUCCESS. MANY SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE TODAY NEVER HAD A UNIVERSITY EDUCATION, THOUGH MOST OF THEM GO BACK TO THE UNIVERSITY TO HAVE AN EDUCATION. HOWEVER, EDUCATION IS AN UNCOMPROMISING INSURANCE TO SUCCESS WHICH CAN BE EFFECTED AT ANY GIVEN TIME IN SOMEONE'S LIFE... "

Education aids exposure and broaden the horizon of a creative mind. But it's better to be illiterate......but smart, hardworking and creative...... a lazy man with a degree is a waste of space.

remember before you drop out of school that the people you said dropped out of school and became big business people dropped out of school in a different economy and environment.
If you try the same thing in an economy and environment that is not like theirs, you will tell us the story

Having a University degree is just a qualification and not ultimate key to success! So many people are out there making it big without higher education. We only need formal education to upgrade and nothing more!
