A body of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Nollywood has revealed that it would hold its 4th Nollywood Igbo Film Festival and Awards in 2014.
The festival, according to the organisers, is to “help filmmakers reach the broadest possible audience, enable the international film community and general public to experience the power of cinema and promote Asaba City in Delta State as a major filmmaking centre.”
The organisers further said the event is a “viable platform for the promotion of the rich cultural heritage of Ndigbo.
Already, preparations are in top gear for this year’s event, which holds at the prestigious Nelrose Hotel Complex on Government Road in Asaba, Delta State from August 27 – 30, 2014.
Speakers for the occasion are Alex Eyengho, Vice President, Federation Of International Association Of Film Producers, FIAPF/ ANCOP-President, who will deliver a paper on ‘Legal framework for defending intellectual property rights in Nigeria and internationally.’
Also, Dr. IFO. A. Amata of Delta State University, Asaba Campus will deliver a paper ‘Nollywood: veritable tool for cultural expression’, while Rob Emeka Eze (CEO of Reemy Jes Production and Leader of Film & Video Producers/Marketers, South East, Nigeria) will talk on ‘Making, Financing and Distributing Films in Nigeria: Challenges and Prospects.’
On the part of Prof. Charles Nwadigwe of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Anambra State, he will speak on ‘Igbo Film Makers: Roles and Responsibilities in the cultural reawaken project of Ndigbo’, while a lecture on ‘Actualization of Igbo Film Industry and Film Makers Empowernment’ will be delivered by Amayo Uzo Philip, Chairman, Omenigbo Group, and Nollywood Corporative.
Mr Femi Adewale of Royal Purple Media will also deliver a lecture on ‘Script to Screen’.
Other events lined up for the programme include conference, courtesy visits, excursion, script and film workshop, awards, film show, exhibition, cultural displays,
Nollywood Poolside Nite Party, foods, drinks and many more.
Special guests include Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State, Richard Mofe-Damijo (Delta State Commissioner, Culture and Tourism), HRH Obi (Prof) Chike Edozien (Asagba of Asaba) and Ezeomenani (Dr.) Harris Chuma (President General, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Nollywood).
