Poverty Eradication: Borno To Distribute N135m To Youths, Others

The Borno State Government, on Thursday, said it planned to distribute N135 million to unemployed youths and vulnerable people in Maiduguri in a bid to fight acute poverty.

The state Governor, Alhaji Kashim Shettima, made the disclosure in Maiduguri at the commencement of the distribution of the money to the beneficiaries.

Represented by Alhaji Kadiri Rahis, the Caretaker Committee Chairman of the Maiduguri Metropolitan Council (MMC), Shettima said the money would be distributed to beneficiaries in 15 wards of Maiduguri township.

The governor said that for even spread, each of the 15 wards would receive N9 million for distribution to some 300 individuals.
Accordig to him the money will be given to widows, orphans, aged persons and unemployed youths. “The target is to assist the beneficiaries to fight chronic poverty,” he said.

He added that each of the beneficiaries would receive N30,000 to enable them to resolve pressing needs and engage in mini business.
He said the government had also approved the distribution of 600 bags of 50kg rice for distribution to the 15 wards of the metropolis.
The gesture was aimed at bringing succour to residents of the metropolis due to the prevailing security challenges.

Empower them don't give them money. It won't be use well. And pls mr gov don't indirectly donate money to boko haram claiming u are giving d citizens.
