The town of Noiva do Cordeiro was founded in 1891 by a woman named Maria Senhorinha de Lima.The woman Maria Senhorinha de Lima was forced to marry a man she never knew at a tender age.When she became an adult and old enough to speak for herself,she left the man.The Catholic Church excommunicated her and called her an adulteress,the society at large treated her like an outcast.She eventually moved out and founded the town of Noiva do Cordeiro,with the passage of time other aggrieved women in the society joined her and the town of Noiva do Cordeiro came to be.These women in this town are by no means deviants.....they are simply a group of brave women that decided to say no to the male chauvinism of treating women like a mere commodity to be traded at will without their consent.
