That Senator Bala Mohammed, the minister for Federal Capital Territory is addicted to hard substance may be stating the obvious, especially to those who are close to him. The story circulating round is how the minister has taken his penchant for marijuana too far. It was exclusively gathered that the minister was on an official trip to Malaysia some months back when he got more than he had anticipated for arrival in Malaysia. A very close source told this magazine how the minister was accosted at Kuala Lumpur airport by Malaysia custom officers and his luggage was found to be laced with indian hemps. On interrogation, he was said to have admitted that it was meant for his personal consumption. Before his interrogation could lead to embarrassment of the government, Nigeria High Commission was to have waded into the matter that later saw him off the hook of capital punishment such offence attracts in Malaysia. Recently, the story of his travail in Malaysia was played out at the Malaysia embassy in Abuja when a group proposed to the embassy of its intention to take the minister to Malaysia. Without offering explanation, the embassy diplomatically advised that the minister should be dropped from the delegation as he would not be granted entry permit. Investigation however revealed that the tag of drug is still hanging on his name. When the minister was contacted for comment via his mobile phone, he did not respond. -Mosun Usman
