Salute to my brethren on this site!!
just a quick response to ebovi and Walerian... Waleran has been able to point out why nothing will be enough to satisfy Blood thirsty and backward thinking militants of the Niger-Delta.... For anybody to understand how deplorable Niger-delta is, that person need to relocate there and stay with people there... i happened to served (NYSC03 ) in Niger-delta. After my service year i stayed briefly before i travel abroad. The main reason why i stayed in niger-delta was the people were very accommodating...although there is Yoruba phobia (they always see Yoruba people as a treat) but despite this feelings they are still one of the most hospitable people in Nigeria.
My experience!
OBJ might be seen today in Nigeria has one of the horrible president the country has ever had in the past...but his regime mark the the beginning of liberation for niger-delta people (He spent so much money on the region so much that, i said to my self, how on earth can we be one Nigeria and more money and opportunity been concentrated in one region like this). to my utmost surprise all the development opportunities provided by OBJ went away begging for people to utilise them..but these militant has makeup their mind they are so desperate and concern about the money they make from extortion through kidnapping.
I participated in the survey that was use for NDDC development plan and this gave me the opportunity to visit some core areas of niger-delta.... there is no doubt people live in an eyesore environment and very deplorable condition... but let be sincere with ourselves Rome was not built in a day. somebody has to start the process and that's what OBJ did then...the problem is any plan without people's backing will fail and that's exactly what happened (Niger-Delta people are the greatest enemy to their own development) and if they continues this way, there is danger that many of their generation will continue to suffer their unproductive way of solving problem.
THE QUESTION WE SHOULD ASK OURSELVES IS CAN CONFLICT SOLVE PROBLEM?
In history conflict has never solved any problem before... after so many distruction of many lives and properties every warring part will meet at the round table and resolve amicably...so this remind of this great question (why do we embark on conflict when it cannot solve our problem) it all about been stupid and so many times human being continues to make this stupid mistake of using conflict.
Niger-Delta just like every other parts of Nigeria has so many enemy of progress that provide amu nitions for these ill-fated young men to foment trouble. what can you say about people like (Diepriye (Bayelsa former governor and his younger brother(TO), James Ibori, and crops of many others) who are opportune to b in position to librate their own people but choose otherwise.
Now !
This is what i think about Niger-Delta solution...
1. federal government should be serious and ready to solve the problem through constructive dialogue with all the players in this region's problem.
2. the presidency should be 100% involve and do away with middle men.. these people are Nigerian and should have access to the president like everybody.
3. give room for everybody to table their grievances and be ready to accommodate them( although people tends to ask too much than can be realised).
5. Senate should pass bill that will embrace continuous development of the region and else where in Nigeria.
6. Like every strong countries, our Military( Navy, Airforce, marines And others should rise up to their responsibility of safeguarding our country by taken over all the Nigerian Creek and harbour to prevent the development of mil litant. cause it does not speak well of any nation that allow another nation inside her). and this is happening because our military are yet to recover from political slumber they are used to since 1966.
7. I believe the use of force should be the last resort if they fail to embrace peace.. cause these groups of militant don't even have the general interests of their fellow niger-delta people at heart.
And lastly to Asari... i think Nigeria Muslim should tell him to desist from associating them with his violent believe..cause Prophet Muhammad never preach violent and if he is truly a Muslim he must embrace a a more civilized way of solving problem.
Thanks for reading.
