
In a recent operation along the Oviri-Ogor road, operatives of the Eagle-Net Special Squad Surveillance Team made a significant arrest, apprehending a 38-year-old motorcycle rider named Orji Timothy.
The suspect was intercepted with a cache of illegal items in Ughelli community, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State. Among the items seized were a locally made double-barrel pistol containing two live cartridges, twenty sachets of 100mg Tramadol, one sachet of Swinol, and two cutlasses.
The police flagged down the suspect on his motorcycle during a routine patrol on 24/04/2024, at approximately 14:45 hrs. Upon conducting a search, a sizable quantity of what appeared to be Indian hemp was discovered in his possession.
Confirming the incident, Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, issued a statement to DAILY POST. He emphasized that the recovery of the Indian hemp prompted further investigation, leading to the arrest of Orji Timothy, a resident of No. 21 Olotu Street, Ughelli.
Subsequent searches conducted at the suspect's residence yielded additional incriminating evidence, including the aforementioned firearm, drugs, and weapons.
SP Edafe reiterated that investigations into the matter are ongoing as law enforcement authorities work to unravel the full extent of the suspect's alleged criminal activities.
