Showing your love in fun, creative, and surprising ways can rev up your romance and put the sizzle back in your sex life. “Words and actions together create the most powerful combination,” says Lisa Brookes Kift, MFT, a licensed marriage and family therapist in private practice in Marin County, Calif. “When words and actions don’t measure up, the words can seem inauthentic.”
 
Fun Ways to Say “I Love You”
Kift says some of the best ways to say “I love you” and renew your romance involve the element of surprise. Here are a few suggestions from Kift and the book, 101 Ways to Tell Your Sweetheart, “I Love You,” by Vicki Lansky:
•   Leave love notes in unexpected places, like your partner’s car or on the bathroom mirror.
•   Display playful signs of affection, like a quick swat on the rear or a tussle of the hair.
•   Start a snowball fight … or something playful but completely out of character.
•   Lie outside on a blanket together and watch for shooting stars. Surprise your sweetheart with a bottle of wine.
•   A short text message, like “good morning love” or “I miss you,” when least expected, can put a smile on your honey’s face.
