Kaduna INEC commissioner dies in Egypt

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Resident Electoral Commissioner for Kaduna State Alhaji Hassan Sulaiman passed on Friday at a Cairo hospital in Egypt after a protracted illness. He was 67 years old. A veteran broadcaster of over 30 years, late Alhaji Sulaiman started his journalism career in the mid 60s at the defunct Broadcasting Corporation of Northern Nigeria (BCNN) where he rose to the post of programmes manager.
 
While at the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) Kaduna, late Sulaiman initiated the popular variety and light entertainment programme, Jakar Magori, a hajj update programme, Hajjin Bana, among others. Sulaiman also worked with the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) Hausa Service before he was appointed the Managing Director of the Kano Broadcasting Corporation which has now been divided into Radio Kano and CTV. He also served as the Permanent Secretary in the Kano State Ministries of Information and Health in the 90s before he became the state’s Head of Service during the administration of Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso. While at INEC, Suleiman served as Resident Electoral Commissioner in Anambra, Ekiti , Niger , Katsina, Borno and Kaduna States.
