A gang of suspected cattle rustlers has killed a traditional ruler in Safana Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The victim, Malam Hasan Wurgal, who was the ward head of Gimi in Runka community in the area, was hacked to death in his residence.

This development was confirmed by the District Head of Safana and Yarima Katsina, Alhaji Sada Rufa’i, while receiving the governorship candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, Aminu Bello Masari, in Safana.

The assailants, who were on alleged revenge mission, according to him, targeted the ward head because of his stiff opposition to their rampant raids.

In his reaction, Masari described the murder of the ward head as a reflection of the insecurity, which had been a major problem in the state.

The former speaker of the House of Representatives also stated that insecurity had taken centre stage in the state due to the low premium placed on the general well being of the populace, and peace and tranquility in the area.

Masari also paid condolence visit to Batsari Local Government Area of the state to sympathize with the people over the death of Alhaji Abdu Rumah, who died of kidney failure and Malam Isah Saleh, who died recently in a road accident.
