The church and the prostitutes are in the same corner battling the government’s decision to create special working areas for prostitutes. The Rome government, in a new move have made final preparations to enforce their new policy aimed at managing the activities of the prostitutes. They have designated certain areas as red light zones where they the prostitutes can carry out their business.
In a statement made available to huffington post, an unnamed government source said they are trying to control the activities of the prostitutes because the trade is fast springing up in some elite areas of Rome.
In a surprising twist, the church and the prostitutes are in the same corner battling the government’s decision to create these red light districts.
The prostitutes fear they might lose their clientele as a result of competition and the fact that upscale customers will not come around those areas to avoid being harassed by police.
The Catholic Church on the other hand, is opposing the government’s move, purely on religious grounds. They feel the government, in providing a conducive environment for prostitutes to carry out their business is acting like an organised pimp organisation.
More news on the outcome of the collaborative effort, will be brought to you, as the story unfolds.
