The Anambra State Police Command has dismissed the fictitious report currently making the rounds on the social media, that a restaurant/hotel has been closed down by the police in the state for serving cooked fresh human flesh to unsuspecting customers.
In an interview with journalists this morning, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Uche Eze, “There was nothing like that. I advice you ignore the report.”
The “report” which quoted the BBC, noted “According to the BBC, suspicious residents told police of rumors that the restaurant was cooking human meat for customers. Police then raided the restaurant, where they discovered fresh human heads that were still bleeding. The blood was in the process of being drained into a plastic bag.
The report also noted that “in addition to the illegal meat, authorities discovered automatic weapons, grenades, and cell phones. Ten people were arrested in conjunction with the crimes.”
But efforts by local reporters to unravel the source of the story or the location or name of the so-called restaurant/hotel met brick wall, thereby giving reasons to doubt the veracity or genuineness of the claims.
Again, when the police was contacted, they denied having any such report or record.
A source from the state Ministry of Information who pleaded for anonymity suspected it might be part of the big smear campaign against the South East zone in the political circle in the countrby.
My own conclusion is if truly BBC reported anything of such, they would have included pictures of the human parts to buttress their point but nothing like that just a picture o meat probably downloaded from Google was included in the original report.
