Three suspected kidnappers have been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly kidnapping and killing an 11-year-old girl, Aminat Ishola, who was killed through a poisonous substance administered on her while in captivity.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, who paraded the suspects on Wednesday at the Headquarters of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad situated along Presidential Boulevard, Abeokuta, said the mastermind of the crime was a former employee of the victim’s guardian.
He gave the names of the suspects as: Babatunde Aderonmu, (21), Sina Damilare,(40) and Taofeek Kola,(50). He said they kidnapped the Primary five girl at Arugudu in Ijoko-Ota area of Ado-Odo/Ota local government area of the state on May 21.

Mr. Adejobi said the gang, thereafter, moved the victim to Osun Jegede area of Ibadan in Oyo State where she was held captive, and later contacted Taofeek Kola, who claimed to be an Alfa to administer a powdery substance on her to hypnotise the innocent victim.

The police spokesperson said, the victim died while in her captors’ hideout. He said the gang immediately wrapped the corpse in a sack and dumped it opposite Ogbere Police Station.
“The SARS operatives led by the officer in charge, Mohammed Tijani, swung into action by adopting all available and legitimate strategies to arrest the other two suspects, Shina Damilare and Taofik Kola Ajisomo (the Alfa),after the arrest of the mastermind, Babtunde Aderonmu, who is a sacked staff of the bakery of the victim’s guardian in Ijoko Otta,Ogun State. Babatunde had been sacked by the victim’s guardian as a result of his dubious acts.

“After the girl had died, they packed her corpse into a sack and dumped the sack opposite Ogbere Police station .The following day, a woman whose shop is close to the police station noticed the sack and called the attention of the police. The DPO ordered the opening of the sack and it was discovered that it’s a corpse and has been taken to a morgue,” Mr. Adejobi said.

“We have carried out an autopsy on the girl and we are awaiting the result. We have gathered that the suspects had contacted the parents of the girl and had demanded for N2million ‎ ransom before they could release the girl, but, they finally agreed on N3million following the intervention of the police.

“One Lasisi Olalekan reported the case of the missing girl to the police and the officers had commenced an investigation on the matter which led to the arrest of the lead suspect, Babatunde Aderonmu. The suspect had sent the account number of a prophetess whom they claimed had prayed for them before to the parents.”

“The suspects had confessed that they employed the service of an Alfa who administered a substance on the girl which led to her death and later dumped her remains very close to the Divisional Police Station in Ogbere Tioya in Ibadan”, Mr. Adejobi added.
