One of the U.S. intelligence officials said the explosive device was a mix of powder and liquid. It failed when the passenger tried to detonate it.

Unfortunately, the suspect has been confirmed by Sahara Reporters to be indeed a Nigerian. He is the son of Dr. Umaru Abdul Mutallab, former chairman of First Bank from Katsina State.
