Capital punishment all over the world is being jettisoned today. This is because, over time, the world has executed innocent people, and turned around to realise much later (after the person is gone) that they killed an innocent man!
Worse, in Nigeria, where it does appear that the C-i-C is the Alpha and Omega, a President can easily annihilate his enemies with trumped up charges of corruption. Any right-thinking human being would opt for life in place of death sentence for heinous crimes.
I see your point and am forced to agree with you on this as well, though i have a different opinion on that as i strongly support the death penalty. But on account of framing the innocents which is very rampant in Nigeria I'd say life imprisonment will fine... Even such law is to be enacted, it shudnt b limited to public officials alone, every Nigerian shud be binded by it, police, military, civillians, traders etc...I swear dem for execute 90% of our policemen/women
