About five persons are feared dead in a gas explosion that occurred at a place they sell gas on Eliozu area of Port Harcourt.

Details at press time were hazy. The Rivers state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ahmad Muhammad confirmed the explosion on phone but said he will not comment on casualty until he was sure of the situation.

He said the Police was already at the scene of the incident to collate information.

According to him, they were refilling gas at the spot when suddenly the cylinder exploded.

He dismissed fears in some quarters that it was a bomb explosion, adding that the Police will come out with a comprehensive statement on the situation at the end of its finding.

An eye witness who confirmed that the Police had condoned off the area said the death toll could be more than five

” I am sure the number will be more than five because I saw some bodies on the ground when the explosion occurred. I was told it was a gas explosion. I hope this is true”, he said,

Police at the scene of the incident to collate information"?. You can see the limitation of policing skills as expressed by this police boss?. Collating information? smh. You should be attending to, rescuing and assisting the injured, investigating and gathering evidence for analysis, or arresting suspects rather than collating information when you are not an NTA reporter. Poor policing skills I call your problems.
May God help us in Nigeria where things are done below acceptable standards.

The goes to show the extent of police training in naija. They are only trained to carry guns, arrest innocent ppl and force them to admit guilt, stand on the road and collect egunje, before it was N20,but now it has increased to N50 - N100,.etc. It's a pity really...

am 100% sure that, that is a bomb attack on the people of port Harcourt from Boko haram.

1. a gas Zylinder can never come to an explosion without heat, fire or triggered by bomb conected device.
