walk-in cooler at the Regina
Correctional Centre. It's the latest controversy involving
Compass, the private company hired
to provide food services at
Saskatchewan prisons. "We take all security concerns
seriously. When this issue was raised
with the ministry, we immediately took
it to Compass,” said Saskatchewan
Corrections spokesperson Drew
Wilby. “Compass addressed that in a timely
manner. The ministry is happy with
how Compass addressed that." RCMP were not called in to investigate
the incident because no laws had been
broken. However, the employee’s
security clearance to work at the
correctional centre has been revoked. A similar incident took place last
summer in Salt Lake City, where a
private contractor had sex with an
inmate in a prison kitchen. Authorities
there charged the worker, who they
say was manipulated by two prisoners. On Friday, Regina inmates ended
another rotating hunger strike staged
