Speaking at a campaign to encourage the patronage of locally-made goods, Chief Udenwa said, but for militants, the Yar’adua administration would have delivered the 6,000 megawatts of electricity to Nigerians. He said the Federal Government was still working to achieve the target, adding that the amnesty programme had reduced militancy in the region and that gas was now reaching the thermal plants without any hitch.
He lamented that many industries in the country were idle, saying lack of patronage of locally made products by Nigerians was one of the major factors hampering the growth of local industries.
Udenwa said dumping of substandard foreign goods, multiple taxation and counterfeiting were also crippling the local industries.
The minister visited the emir’s palace, deputy governor’s office and some industries in the state.
