A youth leader identified as Sunny Omokaro, who is said to be a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ward 4 in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State, has been reportedly shot dead on Monday evening at Ikpoba Hill by unknown gunmen.

It was learnt that the assailants stormed his wife’s shop at about 9:00pm and shot him, few minutes after returning from a political meeting. A source revealed that the gunmen, who were suspected to be armed robbers, had forced their way into the shop in order to escape arrest by some policemen.

The victim who died before he could receive any medical treatment at a hospital, was said to have told the robbers to leave his shop before they allegedly shot him at a close range and fled.

The Commissioner of Police, Chris Ezike, who confirmed the incident, told a correspondent on Tuesday evening that the matter was being investigated by the State Criminal Investigation Department.

Quote
“We know him as a youth leader. The state CID is investigating; we want to look at the circumstances,”
Ezike told a correspondent on the telephone.
