Some students of Baptist High School, Adeeke, Iwo caused a stir among their colleagues as they appeared in the school in choir robes and other church garments. Our correspondent, who visited the school observed that the students came late to the school around 8:35 on Tuesday and headed to their various classes as their colleagues hailed them for their courage. Many female Muslim students of the school wore hijab on their uniforms and some members of the Christian Association of Nigeria are in the school to monitor the reaction of the teachers to the mode of dressing of their children. No student was chased out of the classes for appearing in different clothes and all the students irrespective of their chosen uniforms are being taught by their teachers. Earlier, Justice Jide Falola of the Osun State High Court had on June 3 given a verdict that Muslim students should be allowed to wear hijab in all public schools in the state because it was part of their fundamental rights. The CAN had held an emergency meeting following the judgment and threatened that it would direct Christian pupils to start wearing choir robes and other religious garments to schools should the state government implement the judgment.

Why should we continue to make learning difficult for the upcoming generation? How many of the people behind the wearing of hijab and the choir robes in their own time had this kind of experience? They all had a conducive environment for learning, no wonder they are highly placed in the society today. Many of these people that are muslims attended Christian schools and they complied no moves to be wearing hijab to school even in muslim schools all the students wore the same uniform to school and passed out in flying colours, still practicing their religion. They now reach the top and continue to make learning difficult for younger generation, making learning environment very hostile for these innocent students. For goodness sake, let us not set our society on fire. Let us make our schools more learning friendly. All the people behind all this idea of wearing hijab to schools should tell us if when the were in secondary schools if there were all these chaos. To as many of them that would listen, they are destroying the future of these students with what has nothing to do with pleasing God. Did their wives wear hijab when they were in Primary and Secondary schools? All parents should know that some of the brains behind these troubles don't have their children in such schools where the environment has been made very hostile for learning.
