President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed the Assistant Inspector-General of Police Ibrahim Kpotum Idris as the Acting Inspector-General of Police. This followed the retirement of Solomon Arase. Arase and Idris are currently in a closed- door meeting with the president at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja. Daily Trust gathered that the new IGP was an Assistant IGP in the Operations Department at the Police Force Headquarters in Abuja. Kpotum Idris, who hailed from Niger state, was also a Commissioner of Police in Kano state before his last posting as AIG Operations.
