Iyanya Set To Dump Ubi Franklin To Launch His Own Record Label and Album

This will be a bit of a surprise to many, but word is Iyanya has fallen out with label co-owner and long time associate, Ubi Franklin of TripleMG. That would explain why he announced he’ll be starting up his own label earlier today on Instagram. According to various sources, their problems go back to Iyanya’s 2015 album, Applaudise, and the relatively poor performance it had both in sales, and critical reception. But that’s not where it ends. Rumors have it that Iyanya and Ubi Franklin have butt heads on numerous occasions due to key decisions in the label, and the handling of finances. One of those decisions being the decision to let go of Emma Nyra and Baci (who was close to Iyanya).
 
According to a report by Pulse, Iyanya and Ubi Franklin have not seen eye to eye over booking and appearance fees, and how that is paid out. Other side issues include Iyanya’s feelings about Ubi Franklin’s wife, and how he feels their union affects business. Earlier this year, Emma Nyra had spoken up about her time at the label, and what she described as an abusive relationship with Ubi Franklin. She maintained however that she is still in good standing with former label mates, Iyanya and Tekno. TripleMG recently announced that they had signed on songstress, Tonye to their label, and she’s sinced released her first single under the label, Written In The Stars.
