An Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court on Friday remanded a 33-year-old hunter, Ganiyu Abdullaral, in prison custody for allegedly killing his friend who allegedly changed into a pig.
The Magistrate, Modupe Afeniforo, directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the Director of Public Prosecution for legal opinion. Afeniforo adjourned the case till Nov.11 for further mention.
Prosecutor Monica Ikebulo told the court that the accused shot at a bush pig which later transformed into his friend.
Ikebulo said the accused committed the offence on Sept.9 at Iwaraji Camp via Efon Alaaye in Efon Alaaye -Ekiti. She said that the accused on the said date with eight of his colleagues now at large went for group hunting and unlawfully shot his friend, Iginla Oluwashina, with his Dane gun.
The prosecutor applied for an adjournment to enable her duplicate and send the office to the Director of Public Prosecution for legal advice. Ikebulo said the offence contravened Section 319 of the Criminal Code, Cap C 16,Laws of Ekiti State. 2012. No plea was taken.

God ! It's a day dream to ever believe human would change to bush pig or whatever creature .This episode can be related to high aspiration or desperation to kill a prey for the particular day .The guy was blindfolded by hunger and desperation to take something home ,so in the process shot at a blink of a glance ,not patient to look btw the line to identity his prey before pulling the trigger .The notion of confusing his friend for bush pig is arguable but the superstition of human changing to bush pig is nothing but a day dream .

he will say hunting is only for the brave because fellow hunter will use charm to test you if you are strong by turning into game for the hunter to hunt. but if the hunter is a strong man he will see the game is a fellow hunter and command it to turn back to it original form.

WhaleDog, you're on the ball there... It sounds like a beat-up over an all-too common hunting tragedy caused by impatience and inattention. Some years ago a man in New South Wales was jailed for manslaughter after he went deer hunting, had no luck for three days, shot at movement without checking the target, and killed a bushwalker. The victim had taken precautions and donned a high-visibility vest, but the shooter's stupidity brought that to nothing.
