Woman Bites KAI Official

In a bid to avoid being arrested by officials of the Kick Against Indispline (KAI) brigade, a street trader at Ketu, Mrs. Victoria Akpan, allegedly bit off the finger of an official of the outfit.

The KAI official, Ayiki Bawa Agum, of the special squad, was said to have apprehended Victoria while selling on the road.

In a chat with P.M.NEWS, Victoria said she did not know that the victim was a KAI official, and she bit him to prevent him from pushing her into the KAI vehicle.

‘‘I did not bite him intentionally. When he arrested me and wanted to take me into the Black Maria, he did not introduce himself to me as a KAI official. I thought he was one of the area boys who always come to collect money from the traders on the highway.

‘‘It was after biting him to escape that other members of the squad came to arrest me and brought me to Alausa. If I knew that he was a KAI official, I would not have bitten him,” she narrated.

The victim told P.M.NEWS that one of his fingers was severed by the woman, adding that he had never experienced such.

Victoria is to be arraigned before the outfit’s special tribunal for assault and street trading.

KAI boss, Captain Danjuma Meigeri (retd.), condemned attacks on officials of the agency and warned the public to desist from such act.

He called on the public to cooperate with the outfit to rid the state of street trading and other environmental nuisance.

He advised street traders to look for a conducive place to transact business instead of going against the state government’s directive on street trading.
