Teachers of a Junior Secondary School in the federal capital territory, Abuja on Tuesday, angrily reacted in mass after the principal allegedly slapped their colleague.
Mrs. Kalla Yuwana, a school principal of Junior Secondary School (JSS) in the Kuje area of Abuja, on Tuesday allegedly slapped a colleague identified as Malam Musa Suleiman, as other teachers protested in the school.
Speaking to a correspondent under the condition of anonymity, one of the teachers, said the incident happened on Monday evening after school hours.
He said the teacher, who was a level 12 staff, took permission from the vice principal of the school to take four students to assist him to arrange for their inter-house sports competition at the Government Girls Secondary School (GGSS), in the area.
According to newspaper, he said the teacher and students did not return until around 5.00p.m. and that by then one of the parents of the students had phoned the principal and complained that he was yet to see his child at home.
The source said the principal immediately phoned the teacher to meet her in school and that when he came, she asked him to kneel down, adding that when the teacher refused to kneel down, the principal allegedly slapped him twice.
He said an attempt later by the teacher to apologise to the principal at her residence at about 7:00p.m., ended up in humiliation as the principal walked him out of her house.
It was further gathered that other teachers who came to school the following morning got wind of the incident and later converged at the administrative block of the school to protest against the alleged assault on their colleague.

I think I know that women. She is not as bad as it sound. She is just a strict diciplinarian. She headed one of the girls college my younger sister attended and during her time she sanitized the school thoroughly. There was no news of all the nonsense that is often associated with girls college while she was there and I was glad my younger sister was there because of her. Today my younger sister is a graduate and she still talks about that woman. The situation painted here is really disturbing and even though she over reacted I dare say any Nigerian parent will react like that. The protesting teachers should just see how they can get her to grant them audience so they can resolve the issue amicably. Our schools need discipline and that is where I stand.
