Following the allegations the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan Prof Idowu Olayinka levied against the suspended SUG president over planned protest, the VC and an ex-student traded words on Facebook.
The VC had on Sunday, January 7 posted on his Facebook page that the student union president, Aderemi Ojo and his sympathisers in the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) are planning to disrupt the second-semester examinations scheduled to start on Monday, January 8.

Prof Olayinka stated in his post that the Student Union has been suspended and any student parading himself as a student union member is doing so at his own risk. He concluded saying “We should not allow anarchists disrupt the relative peace we have on the Campus.

Reacting to the Facebook allegation, which the VC later deleted, a former SUG president of the university, Babatunde Badmus commented saying the tone of the VC's write up shows he would be a better Abacha.
He wrote: “Imagine the posture from a vice chancellor of my own prestigious University of Ibadan. THE TONE OF THIS WRITE UP shows that the vice chancellor will be a better ABACHA. Can you suspend ASUU, NASU and other staff unions?”
And the VC responded
Angered by the comment, Prof Idowu replied,  “Your father and forbears are descendants of Abacha.”

Badmus replied again saying “Mr Vice Chancellor Sir. Please don’t go vulgar‎ just answer the questions above”. The VC did not respond afterwards and later deleted the conversation.
Many other Facebook users condemned the VC for going vulgar on the former SUG president. However, the second-semester examination was not disrupted as feared.

Shows the caliber of people we entrust with the education of our kids. People who lack wisdom and self control. No wonder we are where we find ourselves, as a country.
