Police Parade Man Who Gave False Information That Led To Raid Of Elderstateman, Edwin Clark's House

The Police Headquarters in Abuja has paraded the informant who allegedly gave the police false information on Edwin Clark, to conduct a search on the home of elder statesman in Abuja.
The suspect, identified as Ismail Yakubu, is resident at Waru village around Apo area of Abuja. The Police, yesterday raided the Abuja residence of former Federal Commissioner for Information and South-South Leader, Chief Edwin Clark, for alleged possession of arms and ammunition. The policemen stormed 43, Haile Selassie Street, Asokoro, the residence of the 91-year-old elder statesman at 12.30 and left at 2.30 pm, after carrying out a search of the entire house,

The suspect’s parade is coming after the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Ibrahim Idris, ordered the detention of the policemen and the informant who illegally raided the Abuja residence of Clark. Meanwhile, the Nigeria Police Force has apologized to elder statesman, Chief Edwin Clark over the unauthorised raid of his residence in Abuja by four policemen. The Force spokesman, Ag. DCP Jimoh Moshood, disclosed this in a statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday. Moshood said that the police delegation to Clark’s house comprised of the DIG Operations and some Commissioners of Police. He said that the IG has also directed the immediate presentation of the informant to the media before his prosecution in the law court.
