The Kano state gubernatorial election has been declared inconclusive by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The Returning Officer for the Governorship election in the state, Professor Bibi Shehu made the announcement shortly after the compilation of results from the 44 LGAs of the state on Monday.
Shehu said the number of cancelled votes cast is beyond the margin between the candidate with the highest votes and the first runner up, hence the declaration.
He said that Abba Kabir-Yusuf of the PDP polled 1,014,474, and incumbent governor Umar Ganduje of the APC had 987,819 votes.
Shehu said that the over 26k votes is less than the cancelled votes which is 128,572.
INEC will fix a date to conduct election in 172 polling units where the election was cancelled due to disturbances, over-voting and non usage of the card reader machine, Shehu said.
Elections will also hold in Gama ward whose result sheets got missing, with over 40k registered voters.
