Plane Crash Averted In PortHarcourt (Video)

A major disaster was averted on Saturday as an Air Peace Plane overshot the runway at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Rivers State.
 
The incident occurred during a heavy downpour.
 
One of the passengers on board said the incident occurred as the plane was landing at the airport.
 
The plane was said to have come to a halt some 200 meters in the bush by the runway.
 
It was gathered that all passengers have been evacuated and driven to the arrival area.

It seems Nigerian pilots are not yet conversant with our NOTAM as far  as Porthatcout  and aircraft accident/incident are concerned. There is this phenomenon known as Aqua Plane which is frequent at that Airport, luckily enough, it is the Incidents rather than the Accidenst that we have experienced so far. Aqua Plane is a phenomenon in Aviation whereby an aircraft landing during rain loses all breaking power, as a result of the tyres losing grips with the tarmac because of a thin layer of water causing interference.
