Boko Haram attempted to take over Damaturu earlier today. They came in prepared. They shut down Damaturu as the Nigerian army battled to save the city from falling. In the end the Nigerian army pushed them back.
Military helicopters are currently hovering over Damaturu with sporadic gun shots to prevent BH elements from infiltrating the town. .
The spokesman of the Sector 2, Operation Lafitya Dole in Damaturu Captain Njoka Irobor who confirmed the incident said the Nigerian Army are on top of the situation at the moment.
According to eye witnesses, the insurgent were making attempt to infiltrate Damaturu from western axis of the town along Gashua road.
Radio Nigeria also observed town has been deserted where many people are currently indoor with few outside monitoring the situation while provision shops and other commercial activities in residential areas have been closed.
The Nigerian government continued to claim that they have reduced Boko Haram’s capacity to attack.
