The IGBOS HAVE NEVER REALLY BOTHERED ABOUT THEIR OWN LANGUAGE. U CAN HARDLY SEE AN IGBO MAN OR WOMAN THAT CAN SPEAK THE LANGUAGE WITHOUT PUNCTUATING IT WITH ANOTHER LAANGUAGE. U CAN SEE I AM EVEN WRITING ENGLISH RATHER THAN IBO.

I THINK ONE OF THE PROBLEMS AND THE REASON WHY MOST STUDENTS DONT STUDY THE LANGUAGE IS THAT IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO PASS IN WAEC. I THINK THERE IS A CONSPIRACY HERE AIMED AT DISCOURAGING PEOPLE FROM LEARNING THE LANGUAGE. NO MATTER THE EFFORT YOU PUT IN WAEC WILL GIVE YOU P8. IF THIS TREND CONTINUES THEN I WILL BE SURPRISED IF IT WILL EVEN REACH 50 YEARS BEFORE THE LANGUAGE BECOMES EXTINCT.

MY SUGGESTION IS THAT STUDENTS SHOULD BE ENCOURAGED TO STUDY THE SUBJECT BY MAKING THE LANGUAGE AN EASY ONE TO PASS JUST LIKE ENGLISH OR ANY OTHER LANGUAGE. THEN SCHORLARSHIPS SHOULD BE GIVEN TO THOSE WHO WANT TO STUDY THE LANGUAGE IN THE UNIVERSITY.....nnabugwu

what the minister said is the truth ,how many undergraduates are studying igbo lang in our universities since Ogbalu and others who were the ones writing igbo novels died no one have tried to venture into igbo research and studies this was the reason why gov peter obi some months ago brought out prices for best igbo student in the sec sch to encourage them and have promised through the state assembly to enact a law that will make speaking of igbo lang composary in the school and from his pocket have promised to build 50 million naira secretariat to service as an think tank centre in igbo research how i hope other govs would emulate him

Trust me, even in 1million years, the Igbo language will still be there. These guys are just blabbing so people can say they are doing their work. Just imagine, they went for a UNESCO meeting and the only thing to discuss is Igbo Language going into extinction... God save us!

THE WORLD POWER STATED THAT IGBO LANGUAGE WILL BE MADE ONE OF THE WORLD'S OFFICIAL LANGUAGE BY THE YEAR 2025,NO WONDER THEY WANTED IT TO BE OFFICIAL FOR ALL COUNTRIES CLAIMING THAT IGBO ORIGINATED FROM THE LAND OF ISRAEL.
