The Federal Government has declared next week Thursday and Friday as public holidays to mark this year’s eid-el-fitr celebration, which ends the holy month of Ramadan.

This was contained in a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja by Assistant Director (Press), Federal Ministry of Interior. Mr. Timothy Oyedeji.

The statement quoted the Interior Minister, Mr. Emmanuel Iheanacho, as advising all Muslims to use the occasion to pray fervently for peaceful co-existence and progress of the country.

He said this was important, especially as the 2011 general elections were fast approaching.
