Nigerian Music has improved tremendously since the opening of the new millennium, both audio and videowise. Music genres Hiphop, rhythm and blues and afro beat has successfully dominated the mainstream of Nigerian entertainment. Nowadays artists like D-banj, 2face idibia, LD the don of the trybesmen, sauce kid, olu maintain, drenco, modenine, weird mc and a host of other Nigerian artists are taking Nigerian music popularly known as "Naija Music" to the international scene. Last two years(2005) renowned reggae/afro beat superstar 2-face idibia came home with an MTV award for best african act. Nigerian Hiphop has also expanded broadly within the past few years, last year(2006) Hiphop artist modenine picked up three awards at the renowned music channel CHANNEL O. Mid this year(2007) Nigerian artists LD the don of the trybesmen and naija smoothest Drenco launched both of their long awaited and most anticipated albums into one of the world's most popular online store I-Tunes. So far, the future of music in Nigeria seems to be a promising and progressive one.
