Team News
After over two months when the focus has been on domestic matters, European football is back as Bayern Munich visit for the first leg of our last-16 tie.
Chelsea
It will have been a little over 48 hours since the full-time whistle blew at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, and how his players have recovered since that intense London derby could be asked of the boss.

He will also provide injury updates, with a number of players having been unavailable for the Tottenham game.
Bayern Munich were of course the opposition for the best night of Frank Lampard's career, when we won the 2012 Champions League. He well may be asked for his memories of that evening and perhaps our last two-legged tie against the German side, back in 2004/05, when he scored one of his very best Chelsea goals.
Olivier Giroud marked his first start since November with a well-taken goal and an accomplished striker's performance against Tottenham. With Tammy Abraham replacing him off the bench after injury, Lampard has a decision to make in attack.
N'Golo Kante will miss out with Lampard reporting prior to Spurs his injury will likely last three weeks.

Christian Pulisic and Callum Hudson-Odoi are also likely absentees, while Pedro was another winger who missed the Tottenham game through injury. On the bench that day were Tammy Abraham and Ruben Loftus-Cheek who are available for selection again.

Bayern  Munich
The Bundesliga behemoths sauntered through the group stages with six wins from six, including a stunning 7-2 win over Tottenham in north London.
Niklas Sule is out with a knee injury, while Ivan Perisic will miss out with an ankle problem.

Javi Martinez is back in training after missing six games due to a torn muscle.

Head To Head
The four previous matches in all competitions between Chelsea and Bayern Munich have produced 17 goals, an average of 4.25 per game.

Bayern and Chelsea first met in the 2004/05 Champions League quarter-finals, Jose Mourinho's Blues prevailing 6- 5 on aggregate against Felix Magath's Bayern. Chelsea won the first leg 4-2 at home, Frank Lampard scoring twice with Didier Drogba also on target. Lampard and Drogba struck again in the second leg as Bayern won 3-2 on the night but went out on aggregate.

Our most recent meeting was in the Super Cup in 2013 when Bayern won on penalties after extra-time with Pep Guardiola in charge.

Of the 22 players who stared the 2012 Champions League final, just three remain – all for Bayern Munich - Manuel Neuer, Jerome Boateng and Thomas Müller.

Prediction: Chelsea 1-2 Bayern
