The cause of the explosion in Akure which hit in the early hours of Saturday may have been identified.
According to residents of the area, a terrifying loud bang was heard while most were fast asleep. The explosion cut off the highway leaving hundreds of travelers stranded.
Police officers and other security agencies are already on ground to assess the situation and confirm the cause of the explosion. An official report or statement is yet to be released.
However, there are speculations that the explosion may have been caused by meteorite. According to Google, Meteorite is a piece of rock or metal that has fallen to the earth’s surface from outer space as a meteor. Over 90 per cent of meteorites are of rock while the remainder consist wholly or partly of iron and nickel.
NASA had warned earlier that an asteroid will swing past Earth today 30,000MPH.
So NASA actually did confirm an asteroid will swing past Earth today and the Earth is about 29% land and 71% water. Instead of this little particles to hit the water surface, no it hit Akure and destroyed properties and building.. This 2020 not smiling at all pic.twitter.com/YznUrP1vuA
