Yes, wedding ring is necessary, it has its significance in providing a vital information about you to others(a sign board, a warning), it reminds you always of your covenant with your spouse just as God used the RAINBOW as a reminder not to destroy the earth again. It should be a pride and give you confidence as a responsible person wearing it. Ur thought of it not being compulsory is because your hearth is drifting towards infidelity.   Tongue
