A 17-year-old girl who recorded the brutal killing of George Floyd that led to a worldwide movement against police brutality will be awarded for her bravery.

PEN America announced on Tuesday, October 27, that it would be honoring Darnella Frazier with the annual PEN/Benenson Courage Award.

The organization CEO Suzanne Nossel tweeted that had it not been for her presence of mind and readiness to risk her own safety, the truth behind Floyd's death would not have been known.
