Niger State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello has approved the suspension of all Cattle Markets across the 25 local government areas with effect from Wednesday, 1st September, 2021.
Against this backdrop, any vehicle carrying cattle into the state must show a way-bill and evidence of the origin where the cattle were purchased and their destination.
This was contained in a press statement signed by the State Secretary to the Government, SSG, Alh. Ahmed Ibrahim Matane, and made available to DAILY POST in Minna.
The SSG also stated that henceforth the sale of petroleum products in jerry cans or any other containers at filling stations in the state is hereby banned.
According to him, “all filling stations should not sell petrol of more than N10,000 to each vehicle at a time and should be wary of vehicles or motorcycles coming for repeat purchases”.
Matane explained that the government has suspended the operation of trucks carrying firewood/timber across the state.
The statement stated, “all motorcycles are only allowed to operate from 6:00 a.m to 6:00 p.m across the state.
The government spokesman explained that the decisions were adopted in the interest of citizens of the state as part of measures to tackle security challenges in the state.
“Government is aware of the inconveniences the measures would cause the people, but the decision was taken in the overall interest of the state,” the SSG further added.
