Forum assembles people from different cultures. The other day there was a post on when two pals will announce wedding. Intereseting! But what I want us all to know is " HOW IS COURTSHIP DONE IN YOUR CULTURE?" Some do by a bundle of firewood, others with palmwine, others with chickens etc. How is your's?

@valleydust, I get face but whiteman machine no accept it oh! Well, in my place, the man goes to the girls parents and inform them he has spotted a hen in their compound. Then he is asked to bring people to 'catch the hen'. He then brings his family with a roasted chicken and palmwine. All the girls in the house are then called and he is asked to point to the hen he has been searching for. This done, the girl (hen) is asked to open the palmwine if she knows the visitors in her parents home. Once opened, the wine is poured in a cup and she is asked to drink if she welcomes the visitors. She drinks and is then asked to give the rest to the 'cock' that has been following her. A day is then set to settle the brideprice. If she fails to open the wine (meaning refusal), her parents open it and both families drink but, the girls parents pay a symbolic price for the wine. Hope if you come to my place you won't fumble! Oya, how do I come to your place?

@BM & Lay, I ask of the procedure. Someone from afar may wish to come to ur place and needs to know before hand what to do. Remember, many from have arrived to be embarrassed for wrong preparation & many children nowadays do not know much in traditions so your advice may help.

Sum sed sumthing about choc, lingerie n flowers r gr8 head turner- I wudnt appreciate it if a guy that av recently met bought me lingerie or took me away on holiday. There is no easy way out, It is all about getting to noe that person n tailor ur courting strategy accordingly
