Michael Adebayo Olayinka, widely known as Ruger, the Blown Boy boss, has made a surprising revelation about possessing two firearms during a recent interview.
In a conversation with content creator Timi Agbaje, Ruger opened up about the inspiration behind his stage name, linking it directly to a firearm.
When asked about the origin of the name Ruger, the singer responded candidly, stating, "It’s a gun, mehn."
Pushed further on the matter, with the interviewer inquiring if he indeed possessed a gun, Ruger confirmed, "Yeah, I do. I have two."
However, Ruger did not delve into details regarding the legality of his firearm ownership, leaving questions unanswered regarding whether the weapons are licensed or not.
This revelation comes amidst ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies, including the Nigerian Police Force, to curb the proliferation of firearms in the country. Last year, Inspector-General of Police Olukayode Egbetokun announced a temporary ban on issuing firearms licenses, citing the need to reduce the number of arms in circulation.
Egbetokun emphasized the importance of the ban, stating that while the policy might be reviewed in the future, the focus currently remains on the comprehensive mopping up of arms across the nation.
