According to the command’s spokesman, ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the incident occurred on April 1, 2024, at approximately 8 am, when Rahinatu Hassan, 32, from Gyanke village via Batagarawa LGA, experienced complications during childbirth.
In an attempt to assist the woman in delivery, Ahmadu Usman, whose services were enlisted despite lacking proper medical training, allegedly resorted to force and forcefully extracted the baby from the womb, resulting in the tragic severance of the infant's head from the body.
Upon receiving the report, detectives swiftly responded to the scene, where the woman was promptly transported to the hospital for urgent medical attention. Meanwhile, the suspect was apprehended by law enforcement authorities.
During the course of the investigation, the suspect purportedly confessed to the commission of the offense, although inquiries are still ongoing to ascertain further details surrounding the incident.
The arrest underscores the need for caution and adherence to proper medical protocols in childbirth-related emergencies, highlighting the potential dangers associated with untrained individuals attempting medical procedures beyond their expertise.
