A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Niger State, Jonathan Vatsa on Tuesday gave his reason why the residence of Supreme Court Justice, Mrs. Mary Odili’s House was invaded by security agents.
The former Publicity Secretary of the APC in the state, who spoke in Minna, the state capital, while reacting to what he called “primitive politics” by some people, told our Correspondent that: “It is an orchestrated plan to ease Justice Odili out of the Supreme Court ahead of the 2023 general election.”
Vatsa further stated that it is now clear that some people cannot have their way through the ballot box in 2023 except through courts. While joining other Nigerians in condemning the action, Vatsa said: “The 2023 general elections is the main reason behind the action of some desperate politicians using the state agents.”
The former Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism specifically alleged that if the information available before him is to be believed that Justice Odili is the second in command in hierarchy, who is expected to succeed the current Chief Justice of federation, then that is the main reason why they want to humiliate her out of the system.
He pointed out that: “From all the indices of failure everywhere, it will be difficult for some political parties or individual to seek for the peoples’ mandate at any level, hence the need to prepare ground and have their way through the courts.
“The APC has lost its bearing and equally lost the support of the people due to personal, religious and ethnic ambition. And that is why we find ourselves in the current mess where the centre can no longer hold. In fact, the APC is its own enemy.
“There are disagreements everywhere in the party today because the rewarding system is nothing to write home about.
Those who were never part of the building process are now eating very fat, and with extra to take away, while those who worked tirelessly day and night for the party are being asked to stay behind and lick the plate because of either religion or ethnic difference.”
