Nigerian music star Ayodeji ‘Wizkid‘ Balogun was forced more than twice to halt his performance at the ‘Wizkid Live In Concert’ in Abuja last night as poor sound quality almost marred the highly-anticipated show.

“I don’t know what’s going on here. Even if they don’t give me sound, I’m here to see you guys,” Wiz told the excited crowd who waited till 3:20 am before seeing him perform.

Wiz, who headlined the concert, his first in Africa since his globally-acclaimed concert at the O2 Arena in London in November 2021, complained more than twice about the poor sound quality before leaving the stage.

At one point, he started singing ‘Ojuelegba’ while the sound went down, and the crowd sang along while the sound engineers struggled to fix the problem.

The poor sound system forced him to end his performance after about 30 minutes on stage, as many disappointed fans said he would have spent more time if the sound was good.

Fans had complained about the poor sound quality at the concert but hoped it would improve when Wiz came on, but it didn’t; it became worse.

When the four-man band ‘The Isomers’ started their performance, the sound ruined their time, and only the lead vocalists could be heard; the two backup singers could not be heard as they struggled with the poor sound through their performance.

While other artistes did not openly complain about the sound problem, only Wiz admitted and complained.

“I’m coming back to Abuja to do a free show to make up for the poor sound quality,” Wiz told the excited but disappointed crowd. “My next show in Abuja, I’m coming with my sound.”
